Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country, with a population of 240,000 residents, Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Arts and Culture team foster access to arts and culture for those who live, work, play and study in Cumberland by supporting, developing and delivering community, arts and cultural projects, programs and initiatives reflective of Cumberland’s communities. The team have been nominated in the 2022 FBi Radio SMAC Awards for the Best Arts Program, for Granville Centre Art Gallery, one of Western Sydney’s newest contemporary art spaces. The team also lead Council cultural facility, Peacock Gallery and Auburn Arts Studio. The team’s annual program of activity includes multi artform programs and projects, public art, Artist in Residence programs and delivery of the Cumberland Cultural Plan.

The Producer Arts and Culture coordinates the development and production of arts and cultural projects, programs and initiatives that respond to the strategic needs of the Cumberland community, Council and its stakeholders.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Degree in Arts/Visual Arts related field or equivalent experience
  • High level of interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated high level analytical, investigative and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously whilst managing competing priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to the provision of high quality customer service
  • A demonstrated understanding of current issues and trends in the Arts and Culture/Visual Arts profession
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and write reports and grant submissions
  • Current Working with Children Check

About this role: 

  • 1x Permanent, full-time position
  • Working Monday to Friday, with core hours between 9:00am to 4:30pm ,70 hours per fortnight.
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement
  • Located at Council's The Granville Centre - Granville Centre Art Gallery, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 9 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,460.14 to $1,679.17 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

What you'll need to have for this role:

  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
  • Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process, in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
