The role
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Programs and Competitions Officer to lead, manage, and grow a diverse range of sports programs and events at the Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre (MIISC). In this role, you will be responsible for driving community participation, ensuring the safety of all participants, and working closely with the management team to achieve operational success. You’ll provide leadership, training, and support to the team while delivering exceptional customer service to participants, ensuring that every program and event exceeds expectations.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Lead the development and execution of programs and competitions to increase community participation, while ensuring all goals align with Council’s objectives, policies, and industry standards.
- Foster an inclusive, engaging environment for all participants, ensuring high-quality customer service and addressing any inquiries or concerns efficiently.
- Ensure all programs are delivered in accordance with safety protocols, industry regulations, and best practices.
- Assist the Team Leader MIISC, with the planning, implementation, marketing and promotion of competition, programs and events at the Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre.
- Assist in managing budgets for programs and competitions, regularly reporting on financial performance and ensuring all activities stay within budget while meeting KPIs.
- Promote programs and competitions across multiple platforms, including the Centre’s website, social media channels, community events, open days, and internal/external e-newsletters.

You will have
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR Certificate
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- Tertiary Qualifications or demonstrated relevant experience in Sport and Recreation Management/Programming.
- Demonstrated experience in the management and implementation sport/recreation based programming and/or competitions
- Demonstrated ability to assist with leading and supervising staff
- Experience in marketing and promotions of programs and services
- Demonstrated planning and organisational skills
- Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively at all levels, resolve conflict, contribute to successful and positive communications and formulate solutions to problems
- High level demonstrated proficiency in administration and achieving set KPI’s.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $75,011 Grade E Step1) + 11.5% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
