Project Officer Catchment Management – Georges Riverkeeper

Salary: $96,528.40-$105,770.45 + 11.5% super

Temporary Full Time Until September 2028 - 35 hours, days per week

ABOUT US

Georges Riverkeeper collaborates with seven Member Councils and a Financial Partner to improve the environmental health of the Georges River waterways and catchment. We implement five main programs that promote best practice environmental management and enhance liveability along the river. Established in 1979, Georges Riverkeeper is one of Australia’s longest-serving catchment management groups and is currently hosted by Liverpool City Council. 

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to deliver biodiversity and waterway health programs and projects in the Georges River catchment, estuaries, coastal zone, and floodplains on behalf of our members. You will build and maintain strong relationships with our diverse stakeholders including local councils, government agencies, businesses, environmental groups, and the community. The Project Officer Catchment Management collaborates and seeks opportunities to deliver and share best practice in natural resource management.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of programs and projects outlined in the Georges River Strategic Plan – Catchment Actions Program which serves to improve and protect the amenity, aesthetics, biodiversity and ecosystem functions of the Georges River. You will be required to collaborate with member councils to identify appropriate projects within each member LGA, apply for grant funding and liaise with Corrective Services NSW to ensure a mutually beneficial relationship and schedule of works. Another aspect of the role is the coordination of on-water inspections with Council officers and other stakeholders.

 

ABOUT YOU

The successful applicant will have: 

  • Tertiary qualification in environment management or environmental science and extensive job-related experience.
  • Well-developed understanding of catchment, stormwater and waterway management issues within an urban context.
  • Demonstrated project management, administration, documentation (including consultancy/contract briefs), and budget.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising and coordinating bush regeneration work teams and community volunteers.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to present concise and accurate reports, project briefs, presentations, technical papers and grant and award applications.

Salary dependent on the relevant skills, experience, and competencies of the successful applicant.
