About the role

This is a 12-month, fixed-term, full time position working 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm) and will be based at the Nowra Administration Building. The team collaborates broadly across the organisation in relation to a variety of matters, including municipal strategy & policy, strategic & statutory planning, community facilities, asset management, and more.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

Duties
Reporting directly to the Manager - Open Space & Recreation Planning, the focus of this position is to:

  • Formulate municipal policy and strategy relating to community infrastructure (public open spaces).
  • Collaborate directly with Council's Asset Strategic Planner as a member of the project team responsible for review of Shoalhaven City Council's Community Infrastructure Strategic Plan (CISP)
  • Prepare plans of management for Crown land under Council’s management and control.
  • Support the team lead and department manager to deliver objectives in line with Council’s Community Strategic Plan, Community Infrastructure Strategic Plan, Strategic Land Use Planning Statement, Disability Inclusion Action Plan, asset management plans, plans of management, and other adopted policies, procedures and statutory planning instruments.
  • Lead and coordinate projects in accordance with recognised project management and engagement frameworks, including the preparation and maintenance of project management documentation.
  • Provide development assessment advise to development assessment managers for development applications (including subdivision applications) pertaining to social infrastructure (public open spaces, streetscapes, recreation facilities, and more) throughout Shoalhaven.
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with other council staff and stakeholders to deliver project outcomes.

Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Completion, near completion, or commencement of qualifications in a field such as recreation planning, sports management, regional planning, urban or town planning, urban design, landscape architecture, placemaking, or related fields.
  • Ability to interpret and exercise duties in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993 and other relevant legislation.
  • Class C Driver’s Licence.
  • Proof of right to work in Australia

Grade 9Grade 10Grade 11

  • Completion, near completion, or commencement of qualifications in a field such as recreation planning, sports management, regional planning, urban or town planning, urban design, landscape architecture, placemaking, cultural planning, or related fields.
  • Holds a Class C drivers licence

  • Completed qualifications in a field such as recreation planning, sports management, regional planning, urban or town planning, urban design, landscape architecture, placemaking, cultural planning, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated work experience (up to 4 years) in a similar role.
  • Holds a Class C drivers' licence.

  • Completed a degree or tertiary qualifications in a field such as recreation planning, sports management, regional planning, urban or town planning, urban design, landscape architecture, placemaking, cultural planning, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience (approx. 5 to 7 years) in a similar role and thorough / proficient working knowledge of legislation relevant to role.
  • Holds a Class C drivers' licence.

This is a grade range position, therefore in accordance with qualifications, accreditation, experience and demonstrated skills, the prospective employee will be assessed as either Grade 9, 10, or 11.

Grade 9 – Salary: $80,125 - $93,275 p.a. plus 11.5% Super

Grade 10 - Salary: $88,494 - $101,649 p.a. plus 11.5% Super

Grade 11 – Salary: $96,868 - $110,017 p.a. plus 11.5% Super
