We are looking for an experienced project director with the passion and drive to build a welcoming and thriving City.  If that’s you, come join us!

About the role and your team

  • Reporting to the CEO and working with your team you will pick up and deliver an established portfolio of impactful Tier 1 and Tier 2 projects. Some examples of the projects you will be working to deliver are Canning City Centre Regeneration, the Civic Precinct development and the evolving Rail to River Precinct Project, the Canning Vale Sports Complex, the redevelopment of indoor ball courts at Riverton, the development of an Aged Precinct at Herald Avenue and many other place making projects.
  • You will be supported by an Executive Committee which will guide and support you and your teams in project development and delivery.
  • The City of Canning is situated on the beautiful Djarlgarro Beelier (Canning River) and, as a riverine City, this adds an extra element of urban environment that we respectfully care for, but what an opportunity it represents! We are looking to create stronger linkages to the River Precinct and showcase what a great place Canning is to live, to work and to play!

About you

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Have extensive experience and an established reputation for reliability in project delivery.
  • Have a relevant business background (not necessarily engineering or a technical discipline).
  • Leverage the award winning “Culture of Care” work health and safety management program to ensure projects are delivered safely and those working on or around the projects you manage go home safely every day.
  • Have experience in leading a team of teams as they deliver day to day and strategic outcomes.
  • Be a leader of people and your personal values align with the values of the City – Respect, Working Together and Inclusive.
  • Be able to influence across the business.
  • You will say what you mean and do what you say!

The “X factor” for success in this role is that you see opportunities where others may see barriers; you see the big picture and can lead others to realise a vision.
