ABOUT THE ROLE
Position
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our Public and Environmental team. Reporting to the Team Leader Rangers, in this role you will collaborate with a passionate group responsible for supporting Council to ensure our community adheres to a variety of regulations.
Your daily activities will include:
- Conducting patrols and overseeing public spaces.
- Seizing and impounding stray domestic animals (so they can be looked after in a dedicated facility), and investigating complaints related to animal care and control.
- Registering animals, caring for impounded pets, and arranging for euthanasia when necessary.
You will also play a crucial role in:
- Performing parking patrols and issuing infringement notices.
- Monitoring public areas to ensure compliance with relevant laws and Council policies.

To be successful you will bring
- Behaviour that positively demonstrates Council’s values - creative, accessible, respect, energetic and safe.
- SEINS (Self-Enforcing Infringement Notice Scheme) qualification or equivalent and/or eligibility to obtain such qualification.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to prepare and give evidence.
- Demonstrated understanding of risk management and safety issues and the ability to follow safe working practices, particularly around the correct handling and care of livestock and domestic animals.
- Proven ability to deal with a broad range of customers and community representatives in a courteous and professional manner.
- Proven experience in negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution.
- Proven ability and reliability to work with minimum supervision.

- An annual salary range of $61,500 to $76,100 (plus weekend penalties and 11.5% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
