As the Records and Information Management Officer, you will play a key role in managing Council's information governance processes. This includes coordinating the release of information in compliance with the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act), managing GIPA applications, and maintaining records in line with legislative and organisational requirements. In this role, you will monitor and provide advice on compliance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act) and other relevant privacy laws, while preparing internal and external reports on GIPA-related data. A key focus will be reviewing and improving policies, processes, and systems related to information access and privacy to enhance efficiency and ensure ongoing compliance.

Additionally, you will provide training and guidance to staff on document and records management, including effective use of Council's records management system. Supporting the information management team with day-to-day operations and special projects, cemetery administration, will also form part of your responsibilities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring contemporary industry knowledge and experience in interpreting and administering public access to information and privacy legislation and regulation, preferably within a local government environment.

You bring a strong understanding of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, coupled with proven experience in managing GIPA requests. Your analytical skills, commitment to confidentiality, and excellent communication abilities enable you to guide stakeholders effectively on GIPA compliance.
