About the role
The primary role of the Safe City Manager is to ensure proper management, development and conservation of the City of Willoughby's natural, built and cultural environment.
You will ensure outstanding quality and best practice in the delivery to Council of advice and support on statutory and procedural matters relating to the enforcement of all provisions of legislation which are the responsibility of Willoughby City Council as well as a holistic approach to public health, safety and environmental regulation matters.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as planning, building, environmental health, project management or environmental law
- Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee the management of multi-disciplinary teams in a local government regulatory environment
- High level professional knowledge and skills in areas of regulatory health, environment, planning building and road related matters
- Application of corporate management skills such as the development and co-ordination of corporate goals and objectives and business plans
- Ability to think laterally to identify continuous improvement opportunities with technical problem solving skills
- Clear understanding of the business of local government and the roles of other departments and working knowledge of the legislation relevant to this role.
- Highly developed skills in effective communication and conflict resolution/mediation techniques, and negotiation
