Cumberland City Council are pleased to offer a school based traineeship for a young person in our Children and Youth Development team. This position offers a combination of on-the-job work experience and attendance required at TAFE or through a Registered Training Organisation to complete a Certificate III in Community Services. This is a two (2) year traineeship alongside Council's Children and Youth Development team.
This School Based Traineeship opportunity is funded under the Training Services NSW, Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Employment Grant. This Initiative is designed to support Aboriginal people to access employment and career development pathways into the NSW Public Sector and in Closing The Gap.

The successful applicant:
- must be entering Year 11 in 2025
- be aged 16 years or older by the start of February 2025
- identify as Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or both
- have a willingness to learn and undertake on the job training
- have the ability to work within a team environment.
About this role:
- Term contract position for up to two (2) years
- The successful applicant will be required to work part-time, one (1) day per week (8 hours per day).
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Trainee pay scale of the Cumberland Salary Structure starting from $20.68 per hour, plus 11.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will depend upon the successful applicant's age and year of schooling completed.
