About the opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Security Officer to join our Building Construction and Maintenance section on a permanent, full-time basis.

Our Security team is responsible for Council’s physical, and electronic security across all sites. This includes the network of cameras, access control, alarms, and emergency buttons located throughout our buildings. Security Officers provide a prompt and professional response, ensuring that the threats to the safety/security of staff, contractors, visitors and members of the public and property are proactively mitigated. 

An ideal candidate will have an excellent communication skills and strong attention to details. This role will require you to be vigilant and proactive, have a professional presentation and demeanour, display a strong customer service focus and have the ability to manage high-pressure incidents/situations. 

To be successful in this role, you must be available to work mornings, afternoons and nights and have 24/7 availability as required. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Certificate II in Security Operations
  • Current NSW Security licence Class 1A
  • Current Class C Drivers licence
  • Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Computer literacy in basic Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and utilise critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience using access control and CCTV software
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Desirable:

  • Certificate III in Security Operations.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,214.29 per week
  • 38-hour working week
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every month
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
