About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will lead and support the financial accounting team in providing timely information and advice to stakeholders on Council’s financial operations and position.
Your role will involve managing the council’s annual finance reporting, taxation obligations and investment portfolio in line with legislation and policies.
You will also be responsible for overseeing the preparation and submission for statutory returns, reconciliation of financial and subsidiary ledgers, payment to creditors, and the levying of council rates in accordance with the operational plan.
About You
We are seeking a dynamic leader with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills who can inspire and motivate teams to reach business solutions. You will have substantial experience in operational and strategic financial management including demonstrated experience in preparation of annual financial reports.
In addition, you will have:
- An appropriate degree qualification in a financial, accounting or related discipline.
- Experience with financial accounting systems.
- Experience in the financial application of taxation law.
- Experience and understanding of asset management planning.
- Ability to oversee financial related projects.
- Background in developing and implementing business systems and processes.
- Strong teamwork and networking skills with an ability to work well in a political environment.
Your commencing annual salary will range from $135,766.98 to $176,497.07 + Superannuation + Leaseback Vehicle dependent on your experience and qualifications.
