SALARY: $1,792.38 - 2,054.39 pw + Super

Work Type: Permanent Full Time

We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to undertake investigations and design of civil infrastructure. The successful applicant will be well versed in the preparation of estimates and related design reports as well as experience in the Project management of external consultants and the ability to provide engineering advice and services to the various departments within Council. Essential:

  • Hold an advanced certificate, associate diploma, appropriate in-house training, or extensive experience supporting high level management or executive management.
  • Demonstrated experience utilising Microsoft office suite at an advanced level managing schedules, developing correspondence, reports, excel spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Proactive, well organised, excellent time management and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and find solutions for unexpected situations, as well as anticipate problems that may arise in future.
  • Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills, both in writing and verbal, with the ability to successfully motivate, negotiate and resolve conflict as required at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and research information with high attention to detail and the ability to develop reports and correspondence detailing findings and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise competing demands to achieve the desired outcome of the business within the agreed timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate the administrative functions within a busy office environment, including but not limited, collating information, developing draft responses, answering enquiries, maintaining office equipment/stationery, record keeping and diary management.
  • Experience developing and managing projects, including innovative approaches to problem diagnosis and resolution and process improvement.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and understanding of local government with an understanding of a political environment and its impact on the work area.
