Senior Environmental Health Officer

 

  • Salary $106,323.88 to $123,335.16 p/a + super
  • Permanent full time position – 35 hours per week
  • Flexible Working Arrangements available

About the role

Reporting to the Coordinator Environment Health Services, this role will see you provide specialist services, guidance, information and advice on environmental health matters.

 

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Engage in Council’s food regulation program in accordance with delegated authority under the NSW Food Act
  • Manage databases and undertake inspections of relevant regulated systems and premises under the NSW Public Health Act
  • Issue Warning Letters, Notices, Orders, Penalty Notices and attend court proceedings as required
  • Investigate enquiries and complaints
  • Collect relevant evidence for appropriate enforcement action
  • Prepare written reports as appropriate
  • Provide advice to both internal and external stakeholders

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Environmental Health, Environmental Science or related field
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence
  • Experience in the field of environmental health within a Local or State Government setting
  • Knowledge of the relevant environmental health legislation in NSW including the Local Government Act, Food Act, Public Health Act and Protection of the Environment Operations Act
  • 5 years of Local Government environmental health experience 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Competent in the use of MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
