Georges River Council has an exciting role for a Senior Finance Officer - Rates and Revenue to join the Rates and Revenue Team, based in Hurstville.
About The Role
As the Senior Finance Officer - Rates and Revenue you will report in directly to the Head of Rates & Revenue and working as part of the Rates and Revenue Team to ensure the accurate and timely levying of rates and other charges, resolution of customer enquiries, collecting amounts due and maintaining the integrity of the customer database.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide exceptional customer service and have experience in resolving complex matters. You will also ensure the accuracy and timeliness of customer information on the corporate database.
What We Offer
- One Permanent, full-time role - 70 hours per fortnight
- Salary from $87,770.80 - $101,695.64 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation dependent on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate

The successful candidate will have
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant field and/or substantial experience in a relevant field of council rating, accounts receivable, debt recovery and/or customer account management
- Demonstrated experience in a relevant role (council rating, accounts receivable, debt recovery and/or customer account management)
- Demonstrated ability to function with minimal supervision and effective time management skills with the ability to organise own work and to establish priorities and meet individual and team performance requirements
- Strong commitment to customer service and ability to handle difficult conversations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to clearly explain account issues
- Experience or demonstrated ability in managing and maintaining the integrity of a database and the creation of reports
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Commitment to professional development, including keeping up to date with relevant legislation, requirements of the Office of Local Government and policies and procedures
Desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of local government regulations and requirements relating to rates
- Working knowledge of Technology One Accounting System
