ABOUT THE ROLE
As Council’s Senior Officer Commercial Leases, you will provide responsiveness, guidance and support to the Manager Commercial Development to ensure Council’s key asset leases deliver value outcomes proactively and efficiently. You will manage key leasing contracts involving Council-owned real estate assets to ensure return on investment is being brought back to meet Council’s business and revenue-generating objectives. You will also manage end-to-end project and client management of all commercial leasing contracts.
The Senior Officer Commercial Leases is responsible for:
- Coordinating Council’s activities and priorities to influence and advocate for leasing opportunities of Council assets including the provision of specialist advice and negotiating on complex matters relating to contract management of property assets, leasing arrangements and valuations
- Proactively assessing, clarifying and validating client and stakeholder needs on an as needs basis
- Researching market trends and apply industry knowledge to identify real estate and property value creation opportunities and provide high-quality advice and recommendations to senior managers to inform and support decision making
- Manage the leasing revenue budget and overseeing and administer all necessary property documents, contracts, leases and licenses

The successful applicant will have:
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in contract management of Commercial, Retail, Industrial, Residential leasehold and freehold property assets.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness and understanding of the property industry.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication (written & oral) skills, with an ability to liaise with all stakeholder groups.
- Project management skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise, research, implement, monitor and evaluate.
- Experience in briefing, engaging and managing contract compliance and performance monitoring of multidisciplinary service providers.
- Knowledge of financial processes in a statutory environment.
- Demonstrated capability to effectively drive change, including a demonstrated ability to provide innovative solutions to issues that may arise.
