The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Planning and Regulatory Services team. You will be involved in a diverse range of strategic planning work and undertake a range of responsibilities necessary for the effective operation of the team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Administering the Shire’s Local Planning Scheme and land use control in accordance with Council delegations, planning policies and administrative procedures;
- Assessing and reporting on development applications, including significant applications, Development Assessment Panel applications and application reviews at the State Administrative Tribunal;
- Assessing proposals for strata title subdivision, requests for preliminary determination and requests for certification of strata plans;
- Preparing recommendations and reports to Council and external stakeholders on development, subdivision and rezoning proposals;
- Providing detailed and professional advice on matters related to land use planning and development, and land related functions to Shire staff, government agencies, developers, and other organisations;
- Preparing and maintaining planning information sheets and ensuring planning related information on the Shire’s website is up-to-date and in accordance with legislative requirements.
Degree Qualification/s in Urban and Regional Planning or related field and equivalent industry experience and current unrestricted WA Drivers Licence are essential for this role and you will also have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role. You will need to be able to demonstrate sound understanding of both strategic and statutory planning, including assessment and compliance of planning matters, planning concepts including residential, retail and commercial developments, traffic and parking issues, and bushfire prone areas.

Salary and Benefits
This role is fulltime with a remuneration package ranging between $120,000 - $140,000 per annum.
