About the position:

The City has an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals to join our Ranger team as a Senior Ranger.

As a Senior Ranger, you will be responsible for providing operational leadership, be the first point of contact for daily operational matters by providing advice, guidance, training and support to the Ranger team under the direction of the Coordinator Ranger Services. The position will work closely with the public to enforce and promote awareness and knowledge of animal management, local laws, parking, fire prevention and relevant legislation to ensure a safe and secure City of Greater Geraldton community.

Full time positions will work as part of a seven (7) day a week rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide operational leadership, professional advice, guidance, training and support to the Ranger Services Team and be the first point of contact for daily operational matters.
  • Effectively apply and administer the City’s responsibilities in relation to animal management, local laws, parking, camping grounds, caravan parks, off-road vehicles and litter, as per the relevant legislation, Council and community expectations.
  • Assist the Coordinator Ranger Services to drive effective customer engagement and build relationships with customers to ensure a consistent and responsive customer experience.
  • Assist in the identification, development, implementation and review of guidelines, policies and procedures in relation to ranger services.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will possess relevant qualifications and experience suited to ranger services and senior leadership, or ability to complete formal training within 12 months of appointment. They will have comprehensive written, verbal and interpersonal skills for negotiation and communication with customers and the public are essential.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $84,883 per annum or $42.9568 per hour (plus 15% loading for weekend shift per roster cycle) will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
