About the role
As a SharePoint Administrator, you’ll be at the heart of managing and securing they City’s SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams environments. Your expertise will ensure these platforms remain secure, compliant, and fully optimised to meet business needs.
Importantly, you’ll be a champion for collaboration, driving the adoption of SharePoint’s advanced features and integrations with the Microsoft Power Platform (e.g., Power Automate, Power Apps). You’ll empower teams, streamline workflows, and enhance productivity across the City of Canning.

What you’ll be doing:
- Managing and securing SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams environments in-line with best practice security, governance and compliance standards
- Act as a subject matter expert on SharePoint’s advanced features (including integration with the Microsoft Power Platform), promoting innovation and efficiency
- Driving adoption of SharePoint and empowering users to leverage its full potential through training, guidance and support
- Reporting on performance, usage metrics, and compliance status to the leadership team
- Troubleshooting, monitoring and managing technical issues, auditing and continuously improving platform and application performance
What we’re looking for:
- Qualifications: A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and any relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate, Microsoft Power Platform certifications).
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience managing and administering SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams, including configuring security settings and permissions
- Security and Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of security best practices, compliance requirements (including working knowledge of the Record Keeping Act and PRIS legislation), and governance frameworks related to SharePoint Online and Teams
- Training and User Support: Experience delivering training and providing user support to promote adoption and effective use of collaboration tools
- Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues, identify opportunities for improvement, and adapt to evolving organisational needs.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to explain technical concepts in accessible terms and foster trust and confidence among stakeholders
