The Opportunity
As a Shelter Operations Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Council’s animal care operations. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with the daily cleaning and maintenance of animal facilities, ensuring that all operational standards are consistently met. You will help provide a high level of animal care, contributing to the well-being of the animals in our shelter. Additionally, you will offer excellent customer service, responding to public inquiries with professionalism, sensitivity, and providing accurate information and documentation as needed.
Essential Criteria
- Certificate II Animal Studies, or willingness to obtain
- Accredited under the Companion Animals Act as an Authorised Identifier or willingness to obtain
- Intermediate level of computer literacy including database entry, internet navigation and Microsoft Office
- Previous pound / animal shelter, or livestock operating experience or willingness to learn
- Current Drivers Licence (class C)
- Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical before commencement
