Georges River Council has an exciting opportunity for a Spatial Information Technician to join our team, based in Hurstville.

 

About the Role

Georges River Council is seeking to appoint a Spatial Information Technician who brings their knowledge and experience to the team but is also enthusiastic and eager to learn new technologies. As the Spatial Information Technician, you will be experienced with Council addressing/property numbering, reading standard architectural plans to provide addressing advice and database skills such as Technology One Property land creation and updating. You will be working closely within a team and have an opportunity to potentially develop GIS skills in mapping. Understanding of cadastral data, survey plans and addressing/property numbering is an advantage. You are also someone who is committed to providing great service to both internal and external stakeholders. 

This position is within our Spatial and Digital Services team which is one area within the overall Information Management Technology Department (IMT). We specialise in Geographical Information Systems, street addressing and land information. The IMT team contributions are vital to the achievement of Council's vision and corporate goals by supporting the development and implementation of key IT strategies, policies, and procedures for all IT systems. 

 

What we Offer

  • Permanent, Full-Time - 70 hours per fortnight
  • Salary from $78,933.86 - $91,456.91 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation
  • Flexible working arrangements including a 9-day fortnight, flexible start and finish times, and a hybrid work arrangement of 1-2 days from home on application after 6 months probationary period

The successful candidate will have

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (or working towards) and/or experience working in spatial/geographical information systems
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Practical experience assigning property numbering according to legislation and standards
  • Knowledge and experience with management of land titling issues and addressing, achieved by reading survey plans, understanding the NSW Land Registry Services, Property numbering and NSW planning legislation
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technology and software, in particular Technology One Property database and mapping software
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and commitment to customer service resulting in continuous improvements and positive change
  • Excellent time management and task prioritisation skills
  • Willingness to learn spatial/geographical information systems

 

Desirable

  • Practical experience with relational databases and SQL knowledge particularly in a land information setting is desirable
  • Previous experience in a Local Government is desirable
