The Opportunity
As a Statutory Urban Planner in the City of Perth, you will effectively and lawfully administers the provisions and requirements of the City Planning Scheme and related planning and development statutes and policies. This position provides technical advice, support and recommendations to the Council, internal customers and external customers in relation to a range of town planning matters.
Reporting to the Principal Urban Planner within our Development Approvals team, your responsibilities would primarily include:
- Process straight forward to moderately complex applications for development, subdivision and other approvals;
- Prepare reports for Council and/or Development Assessment Panel agendas in relation to development applications, incorporating recommendations;
- Prepare, review and monitor statutory planning provisions and policies; and
- Provide a high level of customer service by drawing upon knowledge and experience in relation to town planning matters to meet the needs of internal and external customers and stakeholders.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Town Planning;
- Considerable experience in statutory urban planning including the processing of simple to moderately complex applications for development and subdivision;
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislative responsibility and processes that relate to urban planning and local government; and
- Ability to effectively plan, organise and manage own time and workload, to achieve specific outcomes within set timeframes against conflicting priorities.

Eligibility
To be eligible to work for us, you will need to demonstrate:

- A current ‘C’ class Australian drivers licence; and
- A satisfactory National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months).
