The role
Are you currently studying Town Planning or Urban and Regional Planning, or interested in pursuing a career in the planning field? MidCoast Council now has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Student Planner. This position will allow you to undertake your planning studies while working as a member of our Land Use Planning Team. In addition to learning as you earn, the Student Planner will have access to an education package of up to $25,000 to assist in completing a planning qualification.
The Student Planner will contribute to interactions between Council, stakeholders, and the community and contribute to the development and implementation of planning projects, policies, strategies and plans within the Land Use Planning Team.
The successful candidate will be conscientious and committed to learning within a collaborative team environment, and will demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in planning.

What you'll bring
- Currently enrolled in a Town Planning or Urban and Regional Planning course at an Australian University or the ability to enrol by 30 June 2025
- Demonstrated commitment to academic studies and workplace learning
- A positive, collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Research, analytical, and problem solving skills

Salary: Commencing salary circa $51,646 p.a. plus superannuation (negotiable based on skills and experience).
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Full-time, fixed term for the duration of an eligible planning course.
Closing date: Sunday 6 April 2025 at 11.30 pm.
