About the position:

This position is responsible for providing cost effective operational supervision, direction, maintenance and coordination of Parks and Gardens in relation to trees, parks furniture and horticulture services. Ensuring all works are undertaken expediently and economically to the City’s specified standards and City’s established levels of service within the Department’s operational budget to maximise service delivery to the community.

This position works a 9 day fortnight with every second Friday as a non-working day.

Key accountabilities:

  • Lead and supervise the Trees and Horticulture Maintenance teams to ensure all activities associated with Parks and Gardens are planned and completed effectively and safely, on a forward program basis, to the City’s defined standards, within agreed timeframes.
  • Actively mentor and train all team members in relevant City policies, procedures and systems to support in closing knowledge and skills gaps.
  • Liaise with Managers, coordinators facilitators and other department employees and external agencies, businesses and the public as required to ensure that the City’s parks and gardens are well maintained at all times.
  • Coordinate materials, service supply, plant and equipment requirements and other resources required to undertake the services of Trees and Horticulture.
  • Regular reporting on the Trees and Horticulture Maintenance team operations.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will ideally hold a Diploma in the relevant field or lesser qualification with substantial experience in parks and gardens maintenance. Additionally, will have sound experience in supervising a team and various contractors with ability to deliver services to program budget.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary range between $84,883 - $95,424 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications of the successful candidate as it relates to the requirements of the position.
