Are you passionate about sustainability and ready to make a difference? North Sydney Council is seeking a motivated and dynamic Sustainability Project Officer to join our Community, Resilience and Sustainability team.
The role
In this role, you will play a key part in driving Council’s environmental initiatives, working towards achieving our strategic objectives outlined in the North Sydney Community Strategic Plan and Environment Strategy with a focus on the following key responsibilities:
- Support the Council in increasing its renewable energy capacity across new and existing infrastructure.
- Drive improvements in the sustainability performance of Council facilities and operations.
- Provide expert advice, resources, and professional development to Council staff to implement sustainable building practices.
- Identify, develop, and implement innovative energy and water efficiency programs, projects, and policies aligned with the Council’s strategic priorities.
- Review, improve, and update existing energy and water efficiency programs and projects to ensure they align with the evolving needs of the community and the environment.
The person
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in sustainability, energy efficiency, or environmental management, with a strong understanding of energy and water efficiency strategies, policies, and best practices. You should possess the ability to develop and implement effective sustainability programs and projects while demonstrating excellent communication skills to engage and educate a wide range of stakeholders. Additionally, you should have experience in project management, including budgeting and reporting, and hold relevant qualifications in environmental studies, energy management or a related field.

Salary Range: $98,227 to $117,291 per annum + $1,000 pa Transport allowance + 11.5% superannuation
35 hours per week with access to flex time
