About the role

Are you passionate about swimming and dedicated to sharing your skills with others?

As a Swimming Teacher, you'll play a vital role in promoting water safety to our community at the Cannington and Riverton Leisure Centres. Reporting to the Team Leader Swimming, this role delivers quality swimming instructions to students in various swim school programs and provides exceptional customer service to both students and parents.

A snapshot of your new role:

  • Teach swimming lessons in accordance with City of Canning Swim School curriculum, AUSTSWIM, Swim Australia and Royal Life Saving Society’s guidelines
  • Develop effective and engaging lesson plans
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students, helping them to improve their swimming abilities and confidence
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and regularly update the skills lists
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment at all times
  • Depending on qualifications and experience, deliver a range of swimming lessons, including baby and toddler, pre-school, school-age, lifesaving, CALD, adults and squads

The roles available are casual and work across both Leisure Centres, 48 weeks of the year.

Applicants are required to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week. Shifts include weekday mornings (8:30am to 12:30pm), weekday afternoons (2:55pm to 7:30pm), weekend mornings (7:30am to 12:00pm) and weekend afternoons (12:30pm to 4:30pm). The start and finish times may vary depending on the number of enrolments received for the coming term, and there may be additional shifts available outside of these times.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Current Swim Teacher License (AUSTSWIM, Royal Life Saving Society or Swim Australia)
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate
  • Current satisfactory National Police Clearance (within six months validity)
  • Other AUSTSWIM qualifications desirable e.g. Infant and Preschool Aquatics, Access and Inclusion, Teacher of Adults.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a commitment to providing a positive experience for all customers
  • Availability to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week
