About the opportunity

This role offers variety and opportunity to work in the large and diverse natural areas of Blacktown City. We have a rapidly expanding Natural Areas portfolio with numerous assets to maintain.

As the Team Leader Bioretention Maintenance you will:

  • Lead a team to focus on bio-retention systems/ Water Sensitive Urban Design assets/ constructed waterway management.
  • Lead a team to ensure bio-retention systems and wetlands are maintained in accordance service requirements
  • Assist with the training and development of Councils Apprentices.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Formal qualifications in Horticulture or related areas
  • Extensive experience in the preparation and maintenance of Water Sensitive Urban Design Assets, and associated turfed areas, gardens and aquatic garden areas
  • Extensive experience in the supervison of staff undertaking such work
  • Chemical Application AQF 3 or equivalent
  • Class MR Driver's Licence.

Desirable:

  • Senior First Aid certificate
  • Traffic controller accreditation
  • Chainsaw operation certificate of competency.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,451.97 per week
  • 38-hour working week
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
