Team Leader - Fire Management 

 

  • Salary $79,014.00 to $91,655.72 p/a + super 
  • 38 hours per week/9 day fortnight
  • Supervise staff and assist in undertaking work associated with the delivery of Council’s bushfire management program and the maintenance of the fire trail network

We are seeking an experienced and passionate professional to lead fire management activities within the Ku-ring-gai area.

 

Reporting to the Coordinator Bushland Services, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting asset protection zone (APZ) maintenance and hazard reduction burning to protect the community and natural environment
  • Oversee operational planning, hazard reduction programs, and emergency response activities
  • Conducting fire trail maintenance works
  • Lead and mentor a dedicated team of fire management staff, fostering a culture of safety and collaboration
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and emergency services
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in fire management

 

Required experience & skills:

  • Appropriate qualification relevant to Public Safety (Firefighting Operations), Crew leadership equivalent (For example, NSW Rural Fire Service or NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service Crew Leader)
  • Current PUAFIR402 Conduct simple prescribed burns or PUAFIR506 Conduct complex prescribed burns or willingness to undertake training to obtain competency
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
  • Current Class MR Driver’s licence
  • Current White Card Certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate.
  • AQF3 Chemical Handling certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
  • Chainsaw operator’s certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • A commitment to community safety and environmental conservation
