The Role
Lead the future of Landscape Architecture in our City!
Take charge of shaping vibrant and sustainable public spaces! This role provides strategic leadership to the Landscape Architecture Team, driving the design and development of key landscape masterplans, open spaces, destination playgrounds, and amenity projects.
You’ll provide expert landscape architectural and design guidance to Council while leading the development of capital works projects that contribute to the City's long-term sustainability and liveability.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Lead and manage town centre, public domain, and parkland projects to drive good design outcomes for the City.
- Provide leadership and direction for major landscape projects ensuring they meet the strategic and financial goals of Council. .
- Develop, motivate, and manage a team to deliver open space projects while protecting Council’s interests.
- Oversee capital works for natural and built environments to support sustainable city development.
- Facilitate cross-department collaboration to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Provide senior landscape architectural and design advice to Council.
- Coordinate the Liveable Centres Program.
- Manage project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and pre-planning for major initiatives. Lead stakeholder and community consultation for key projects.
- Prepare presentations and reports for the Executive Leadership Team and Councillors.
- Lead and support organisational change within the team and unit.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Manager City Plan and Transformation.

You will have
- A Degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent, a current Class C Driver’s Licence, White Card, and AILA registration or eligibility.
- 3 to 5 years in a similar role with expertise in delivering capital works projects to improve natural, open, and built environments.
- Proven ability in managing projects from conception to completion, including design development, contractor supervision, and maintenance program management.
- Skilled in open space planning, urban renewal, and environmental improvement with a strong understanding of sustainable design and construction techniques.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, GIS, and database systems for design and documentation.
- Proficient in using Word, Excel, and other general software applications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with strong investigative, analytical, and complaints-handling skills.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to manage resources, staff, and time effectively.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $129,948 (Grade K, Step 1) + 11.5% super. Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
