ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Libraries team operate eight (8) locations across the Cumberland LGA and assist customers and members of the public with locating materials, answering questions and providing guidance on research strategies.

The team also hold a wide variety of events across these locations, ranging from educational and cultural programs to social and community-building activities.

The Team Leader Library Operations is responsible for providing leadership and direction to a direct team of customer service professionals who are responsible for overseeing relevant services and activities across the Cumberland Library locations and service points. 

The successful applicant will require:

  • Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent experience
  • Eligible for Associate Membership of ALIA
  • High level of interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Extensive supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated high level analytical, investigative and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously whilst managing competing priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks effectively
  • Well developed and demonstrated ability to influence and persuade a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to the provision of high quality customer service in a Library environment
  • A demonstrated understanding of current issues and trends in the Library profession
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and write reports and grant submissions
  • Experience in reviewing, developing and documenting workplace policies and procedures
  • Experience in developing staff rosters and assessing staffing levels/requirements
  • Current Working with Children Check.

About this role: 

  • 1x Permanent full-time position
  • Working 70 hours per fortnight, Monday to Saturday, with core hours between 8:00am - 8:00pm.
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
  • Located at Council's Merrylands and Auburn libraries however may be required to work across any branch of the Cumberland City Council Library Service. 

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 12 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,844.36 to $2,121.02 per week plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
