About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and enthusiastic Strategic Planning professional to join our team as Team Leader Strategic Planning on a temporary basis for 12 months.

As Team Leader Strategic Planning, you will be a results driven leader who can guide and develop a close-knit team of Strategic Planning professionals to ensure that Woollahra Council meets the needs of its residents by providing customer focused, high level effective strategic planning services.

You will provide effective policy, strategic and environmental planning frameworks for the management of the built environment of the local government area.

About you

We are looking to engage an experienced professional with strong leadership ability and a strong commitment to superior customer service.

You will be a high achiever with:

  • A tertiary qualification/s in either Town Planning or related field.
  • High level skills and experience in team leadership and project management, including projects involving consultants.
  • Extensive skills and hands-on experience in the preparation, assessment and implementation of local environmental plans, planning proposals, development control plans, contributions plans, policies, and strategies.
  • Well-developed skills in the use of PC office software such as Word and Excel. Skills in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint and desktop publishing software will be highly regarded.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Skills and experience in the formulation and implementation of, and participation in, community consultation programs, including presentations to public forums.
  • A proficiency in research and problem solving, providing clear concise recommendations for action within tight timeframes.
  • Commitment to the provision of quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity and Work Health and Safety principles.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to Council’s corporate values.
  • Current class C driver’s licence.

Desirable Criteria

  • Skills and experience in urban design analysis, placemaking and design resolution.
  • A qualification in IAP2.
