Fixed-term (2 year contract)
Part-time (minimum hours from 12 to 30 hours per fortnight, including weekend and public holiday shifts, rostered in advance)

As a Tourism Development Officer, you will provide exceptional customer service to visitors to the City of Rockingham, by providing up to date information on the local region, tourism attractions and experiences, as well as details of upcoming events to ensure visitor expectations are met.

You will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Mobile Visitor Centre and in making visitors more aware of the leisure and tourism opportunities available in the region through effective marketing and recommendations.

Experience in marketing, tourism and or customer service roles will be highly regarded, but is not essential. A current Western Australian ‘C’ class driver’s licence and the ability to work weekends and occasional public holidays is essential for this role.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your application – please submit:

  1. Sound knowledge of visitor servicing principles through previous experience, training or education
  2. Sound knowledge of digital marketing and social media platforms through previous experience, training or education
  3. Sound local knowledge of Rockingham’s tourism offering and tourism products
  4. Ability to work autonomously and with team members to achieve outcomes
  5. Experience in marketing, tourism and/or customer service role is desirable
  6. Valid ‘C’ class driver’s licence

We are offering a gross salary of $82,627 per annum (pro-rata), as well as:

  • 11.5% superannuation with the opportunity to co-contribute up to 5%
  • A variety of health and wellbeing programs including a physical health reimbursement subsidy payment of up to $150 per annum, free flu vaccinations, free skin cancer checks, mental health programs and Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) services

This position will be expected to work across a number of public sites throughout the year, including key tourism locations and major events during the peak tourism season (spring and summer), and at the City of Rockingham Administration building during the off season (autumn and winter). Applicants must be flexible and available to work in line with the Mobile Visitor Centre’s operating hours, outlined below.

Mobile Visitor Centre standard operations during spring and summer will be Thursday – Sunday, 8.30am – 3.00pm. Additional hours may be scheduled during school holidays, occasional public holidays and major events throughout the Perth metropolitan area.

Tourism off-season working days will be scheduled Monday-Friday. Annual leave should be taken during this time to ensure the Mobile Visitor Centre operations can be maintained during the peak tourism season.
