Description

The Hills Shire is a diverse and complex area, extending from Baulkham Hills to Wisemans Ferry, with a population set to increase from 200,000 people to 260,000 people by 2036. With high density urban centres, leafy suburbs, urban services precincts, new greenfield development and vast areas of bushland and rural land, the Shire offers opportunities undertake strategic land use and infrastructure planning in a wide variety of contexts. The Forward Planning team focus on balancing the needs of the community with rapid jobs and population growth associated with Government directions and transformation of the Sydney Metro Northwest corridor and finding solutions to key issues such as planning for and funding new infrastructure.

Some of the duties of this role include:

  • Processing, assessing, and reporting on rezoning proposals, development control plans and planning agreements.
  • Preparing and implementing precinct plans to guide future development.
  • Identifying infrastructure items and funding sources to support development.
  • Attending to planning enquires, providing planning advice and providing high level customer service to the residents of the Hills Shire;
  • Developing and monitoring local planning policies, development controls, contributions plans and planning agreements.
  • Advising council on the impact of government reforms and policy changes.

What we are seeking in our newest team member: 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to deliver outcomes in a timely manner;
  • Drivers Licence (Class C) – NSW; and
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Town Planning or related field such as Economics, Architecture, Environmental Science, Geography or similar.
