The role 

Our Civil Construction Traineeship can set you up for a range of career pathways with MidCoast Council. Working from one of our South Works Depots, you’ll gain practical skills such as Road, Bridge and Drainage construction and maintenance, you’ll learn to operate plant, equipment and tools safely all while working to obtain a Certificate II in Civil Construction (RII20720). 

 The role requires that you: 

  • Have a genuine interest in working in Civil Maintenance and Construction
  • Are willing to work in a range of diverse areas and working conditions
  • Will commit to studying to complete your formal qualification
  • Have a can do attitude and not afraid to get involved

Location: This position will be based from the Gloucester Depot located at Oak Street, Gloucester. 

Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role you’ll be required to complete a pre-employment basic skills assessment and medical check (medical assessment will include a drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, functional and medical component).

Commencement: Successful Trainees and Apprentices will commence on Tuesday, 28 January 2025.  

Remuneration: You will be paid in accordance with the Traineeship pay scale as outlined in the Local Government (State) Award 2023 plus superannuation. 

Tenure:

  • Fixed term 12 months
  • Full-time 38 hours per week with a fortnightly rostered day off
  • For the right candidates, there will be an opportunity to progress to a Certificate III in Civil Construction - RII30920 (a further 24 months)
