- Salary trainee band - $1,042.10 to $1,142.50 (pro-rata) per week + super
- Up to 18 months Fixed Term Contract (28 hours per week)

Located 16 km’s north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and set in one of New South Wales’ most attractive natural environments.
About the role
Reporting to the Water and Catchments Program Leader, you will be responsible for assisting in the research and provision of technical and scientific information to support the planning and management of natural and built environments and communities with Ku-ring-gai, consistent with the principles of Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD).
Duties will include, but are not limited to
- Assisting with testing, monitoring and recording of water quality across Ku-ring-gai
- Managing Council’s water quality database and other databases as required
- Research and provide advice on various natural resource management and sustainability issues
- Undertaking site investigations and analysis
- Preparing reports, papers, submissions and communication materials
- Supporting ecological and general environmental projects
- Keeping abreast of trends and developments
Qualifications, Skills & experience
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
- Near completion of relevant undergraduate degree or undertaking a postgraduate degree program
- Demonstrated willingness and enthusiasm for learning in a field that focuses on natural resource management and the interface between people and their environments
- Demonstrated research and writing skills
- Previous involvement in environmental or sustainability initiatives
