ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity within our Environmental Health and Development Services department for a current or recently graduated student to join our team in a Trainee Environmental Health Officer role.
Working alongside the Coordinator and wider Environmental Health team, you will have the opportunity to gain essential industry experience whilst ensuring that Council's regulatory requirements are met.
The successful applicant will require:
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a relevant tertiary qualification in environmental health or equivalent
- Current Class C drivers licence (unrestricted)
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card) (or willing to obtain)
- Sound written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills
- Sound organisational and time management skills.

About this role:
- Term contract, full-time/part-time position for up to 12 months
- Working up to 70 hours per fortnight
- Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement (where applicable)
- Located at Council's Auburn office, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade T4 - T10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $882.66 to $1,206.92 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role.
What you'll need to have for this role:
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
- Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
- Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process, in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
