Murray River Council is looking for two motivated and eager Trainee Water and Wastewater Technicians to join our team! One role will be located in Murray Downs and the other will be located in Moama.

What you’ll do:

As a Trainee Water and Wastewater Technician, you’ll receive on-the-job training while studying towards your Certificate III in Water Industry Operations. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals and gain hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater infrastructure across the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of water and sewer treatment plants, pump stations, and reticulation systems.
  • Support water sampling and testing to meet required health and safety standards.
  • Maintain and monitor water and sewer systems to ensure reliability and safety.
  • Respond to customer requests and attend to emergency calls.
  • Participate in routine safety assessments and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of smart water meter systems.
  • Help monitor electronic control systems and resolve faults.
  • Ensure plant and equipment are well-maintained and operate efficiently.

  • A current Driver’s Licence
  • National Police Check
  • Pre-employment Medical
  • Current First Aid Certificate
