The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a dedicated individual to operate a Backhoe Loader and a variety of other plant equipment for the primary purpose of maintaining BVSC road assets and associated infrastructure.
As an Unsealed Roads Team Member (Plant Operator), you will operate and maintain a Backhoe Loader for construction and routine rural drainage maintenance activities. You will also operate other plant equipment on road construction and maintenance projects, and perform basic routine and corrective maintenance on a variety of plant equipment.

About You
We are seeking an individual who has proven recent backhoe operator experience working on road asset maintenance activities or similar, and has a current NSW Class C Drivers Licence and SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
We are seeking an individual who holds or is willing to obtain the following qualifications:
- School Certificate (Year 10) or equivalent
- SafeWork ‘Traffic Controller’ qualification
- SafeWork ‘Implement Traffic Control’ qualification
- Chainsaw competency (Trim and Cross Cut)
- Civil Plant Licence or Competencies (must include Backhoe Loader)
- HLTAID003 - Provide first aid
You will have the following skills and experience;
- Proven recent backhoe operator experience working on road asset maintenance activities or similar.
- Proven recent Backhoe Loader operating experience working on road asset maintenance activities or similar.
- Demonstrated relevant experience in road asset maintenance works which may include (but not limited to); road pavement maintenance, unsealed road maintenance, pavement patching, roadside vegetation maintenance, drainage maintenance, environmental controls, pipe laying and minor construction.
- Experience in operating and using a variety of hand and power tools which may include (but not limited to): chainsaws, spray equipment and pumps.
Benefits
This is a permanent full time position working 38 hours per week. You will be working in different locations across the shire with the required start time at site being 7:00am.
The total remuneration package for this position commences at $67,975.75 gross per annum, comprising of:
- $1,172.40 per week base salary
- $134.83 per week superannuation (calculated at 11.5%)
