- Full time role, 35hrs per week and enjoy a 9 day fortnight

- $95, 477.88 to $106, 935.17 per annum plus superannuation

About the role
This role will develop, implement and review environmental policies and plans including the Urban Forest Strategy to identify, support and promote the natural environment, as well as delivering environmental management outcomes for the Bayside LGA.
About you
If you are looking to make a real positive change in the local community and Environment sustainability of Bayside Council and for a role with tangible results, this is the role for you. The successful candidate is responsible to contribute to the development and maintenance of Council’s natural environmental assets to achieve overall tree canopy target of 35% by 2040. .
You can also expect to:
- Implement, review and update environmental policies and strategies including Council’s Urban Forest Strategy and Street Tree Master Plan to inform decision making in line with contemporary environmental standards and legislative requirements.
- Develop, co-ordinate and supervise urban forest management projects.
- Undertake a range of activities such as preparation of project briefs to achieve required outcomes within agreed project scope.
- Identify, prepare, implement, report and advise on grants and award submissions that enhance opportunities for Council to improve environmental outcomes under guidance of the Coordinator and/or Manager.
- Contribute to the development and deliver a high standard community education and engagement programs to internal stakeholders and community.
- Build effective working relationships within Council, government agencies, and the community to achieve Council goals.
- Engage and manage consultants and contractors as required, and review performance to ensure service delivery requirements are met.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Tertiary qualifications and experience in environmental science, environmental management, natural resources, sustainability or related discipline with proven experience in delivery across similar areas.
- Demonstrated experience and working knowledge across several functional areas in relevant field, which includes urban forest, natural resources, water management, bush regeneration and bushcares, biodiversity conservations, biodiversity security.
- Sound experience in community education and positive behaviour change.
- Sound experience in environmentally responsible service delivery and implementing actions that improve environmental awareness and performance.
- Sound experience in research, analysis and preparing submissions and briefing papers.
