  • 8 day rotating roster
  • Work alongside a dedicated and experienced team
  • $61,932.83 - 68,532.77 per annum, plus superannuation 

ABOUT US

Narrabri Shire Council manages and operates a licensed landfill at the Narrabri Waste Facility, along with eight transfer stations across the Shire. This position working at the waste facility will see you completing day-to-day operational tasks, including, customer service, maintenance and general construction across the sites.

The successful applicant will join an experienced team and be required to work collaboratively to achieve organisational goals.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Waste Facility Attendant you will help to maintain a safe and efficient waste management process, contributing to environmental sustainability and public health with also delivering exceptional customer service to our community. The responsibilities of a Waste Facility Attendant are:

  • Correctly identify waste, including dangerous and hazardous substances, to ensure correct handling, storage and/or disposal.
  • Provide a high standard of customer service to contractors, business representatives and members of the public visiting shire waste facilities.
  • Respond to waste emergency situations appropriately and effectively to protect people, assets and the environment.
  • Undertake inspections and complete required maintenance of site fences, equipment and plant to the standard required and follow Council procedures to arrange any major repairs required.
  • Ensure operational and maintenance activities are carried out safely in accordance with Narrabri Shire Council policies and procedures.
  • Monitor resources and materials on site and advise the Waste Coordinator of any irregularities or requirements.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate for a Waste Facility Attendant is someone can work individually or as part of a team, has excellent communication skills and a ‘can-do’ attitude. The ideal candidate will also possess:

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Basic computer skills and demonstrated use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to perform cash handling tasks.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
