ADD VALUE - THE ROLE
The Waste Management Facility Community Recycling Centre/Weighbridge Operator will have a dual function of being responsible for working in both the Community Recycling Centre and the Weighbridge, providing customer support for the disposal of household levels of waste and recyclables at the Community Recycling Centre and transfer bin area. As well as operating the recycling shop, general site and equipment maintenance and all duties associated with the operation of the Weighbridge. The position will also when requested provide data and information for reporting purposes and undertake general administration tasks.
Key responsibilities include;
- Operate and maintain the Community Recycling Centre and transfer bins areas
- Process or bulk up waste collected in the Community Recycling Centre such as compacting of cardboard and soft plastics, decanting of oil and paint and processing of polystyrene.
- Carry out resource recovery, transfer and storage of reusable and recyclable items
- Divert recyclable wastes from landfill for recovery or sale in the Recycling Shop
- Assist customers in the disposal of general waste at the transfer station or recyclables at the Community Recycling Centre and advise customers if materials are unacceptable
- Monitor waste levels within the CRC
- Conduct grounds maintenance including but not limited to vegetation management, litter collection and minor landscape works around the facility
- Perform recycling shop duties, including inventory management, sales, cash register operations and bank reconciliations in accordance with Council’s procedures
- Ensure all materials are weighed into and out of the facility in accordance with Council operating procedures, EPA requirements
- Undertake basic financial management practices, including cash register operations, cash reconciliations, float management in accordance with Council’s operating procedures
This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working a 76 hours per fortnight across a 9-day fortnight on a 7-day roster system. This roster includes one weekend per fortnight.
Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 5 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $2687 - $3176 per fortnight inclusive of weekend penalty rates and Adverse Working Conditions allowance, plus 11.5% superannuation. This role is eligible for 5 weeks annual leave per year.
