  • $66,607 to $77,912 p.a. + super and allowances of $20,596 p.a.
  • Ability to earn an additional allowance of up to $12,802 p.a.
  • Monday to Friday from 5:00am - based in Alexandria

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, reliable and enthusiastic employee to lead one of our Waste Services teams at Woollahra Council on a permanent full time basis.

This is a great professional development opportunity to further your skills and experience in Waste Services. 

As Waste Services Team Leader (Driver) you will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead and supervise a small team of waste collectors
  • Carry out waste collection duties when required, such as bin collection, emptying and replacement, to Council work and safety standards and as directed
  • Operate all necessary plant and equipment, such as mechanical bin lifters, to achieve job objectives.
  • To respond to service complaints and action requests as directed.
  • To provide the Waste Services Coordinator with accurate daily records of works requested and completed.
  • To identify and report promptly to the Waste Services Coordinator any observed potential hazards on Council property, infrastructure or open space.
  • To comply with the responsibilities of a driver in operating and maintaining a Council vehicle as set out in Council’s Safe Driving & Fleet Management Policy Objective.

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a Waste Collection Team.
  • HR Driving Licence with proven outstanding driving record.
  • At least two years of truck driving experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to WHS in the workplace and practical application of safe working procedures.
  • Ability to work varied hours including early starts.
  • Proven reliability and commitment to Council’s values.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Physical ability to perform general labouring duties as outlined in section 7 of the Position Description.

 Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in the use of Councils IT programs including CRM software I Concierge and/or HR Central (iChris) or similar.
