About the role

This is a full time, fixed term position in the Water and Sewerage team until September 2026 and is based at the Moruya Administration Office. The primary focus of the role will be to manage the development of water and sewerage infrastructure strategies, projects and documentation. Including but not limited to population projections and demand forecasting, secure yield, water supply and sewer modelling, feasibility studies and concept designs, asset management and resource planning. 

Your main duties will include:

Coordinating the activities of the Water and Sewer Environmental Engineer and Cadet Engineers when assigned. Take an active role coaching, mentoring and performance management.

  • Managing and coordinating the activities for the development of strategies and documentation to inform our capital program for water and sewerage infrastructure.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the strategic program progress and expenditure.
  • Engaging the community, key stakeholders and managing the performance of consultants as required.
  • Ensuring all activities are carried out with respect to safety, quality and environmental aspect and impact considerations.

About you

You will be a significantly experienced engineering professional, preferably with a focus in water and/or sewer systems, who can confidently work autonomously and strategically to deliver on deadlines. You will be a high achiever with a can-do attitude. Your application should further demonstrate the following:

  • Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or equivalent (AQF Level 8).
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management.
  • Understanding of asset management principles.
  • Proven ability to use effective decision making and problem solving techniques and processes.
  • Highly developed organisational, written communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary Information

Total remuneration for the role is in the range $126,540.79 to $139,007.44 gross per annum consisting of:

  • $109,651.69 to $120,454.44 base salary
  • $3,837.81 to $4,215.91 Civil Liability Allowance
  • $13,051.29 to $14,337.09 superannuation (at 11.5%)

A fully maintained Council leaseback vehicle (including full private usage) is available with this position.

Appointment to this position is subject to the following:

  • A satisfactory outcome as a result of a National Criminal History Record Check.
