The role & you

MidCoast Council is currently seeking a proactive and experienced Water Asset Management Coordinator to play a crucial role within our Water Planning and Assets department. This position requires a strong background in asset management within the water and sewer industry, as it involves implementing and reviewing our asset management framework, strategies, and plans to ensure efficient and effective operation of our infrastructure.

As Water Asset Management Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in setting a clear vision, fostering a culture of ‘living asset management’, and improving asset management maturity across the water and sewer business. You will also work to establish goals aligned with organisational objectives and motivate a small team to achieve excellence. You will hold a degree-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, demonstrating a deep understanding of asset management frameworks, strategies, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will excel in problem solving and investigation, driving continuous improvement initiatives across asset management processes. Proficiency in integrated planning, reporting, and business improvement practices is essential, along with effective communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the implementation and review of the asset management framework, strategies, and plans.
  • Lead and develop water asset management staff to improve asset management maturity.
  • Work collaboratively with water and sewer staff to foster a culture of ‘living asset management’.
  • Ensure integrated planning and reporting align with organisational objectives.
  • Monitor and control expenditure against budget allocations.

Salary: Commencing salary circa $116,000 p.a.- $139,000 p.a. plus superannuation (commencing salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on qualifications, skills and experience) 

Civil Liability Allowance: There is a Civil Liability Allowance of 3.5% which applies to this role. 

Vehicle Arrangement: A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
