Temporary full-time position - up to six months

Salary: $75,243 to $92,425 per annum, (based on 70 hours per fortnight) plus superannuation and a 9 day fortnight.

Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

This is an opportunity for someone new to Work Health and Safety to join an experienced, dedicated and dynamic team. The opportunity exists for someone to contribute in all aspects of work health and safety management.

About the role

This role will play an important part in Council's Safety and Wellness Services Team who have been tasked with supporting the organisation achieve a healthy and safe workplace. A field and office-based role, you will work closely with the Safety and Wellness Services Team to support all aspects of Council's work health and safety management system including:

  • Reviewing and updating safety documentation within the organisation as required – Safe Work Method Statements, Safe Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments, Chemical Registers, etc.
  • Preparing and delivering Safety Metrics to Branch / Section Leaders
  • Administrative assistance with Safety & Wellbeing Projects
  • Preparing agenda and minutes for the HSR Forum.

Duties of the position are dependent upon grade and are listed within the position description.

About you

The Work Health Safety Officer role requires an enthusiastic and highly motivated person who has excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise work to meet numerous deadlines. You will require:

  • A commitment to good quality customer service
  • Sound negotiation, oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel
