The Role
Reporting to the Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator and based across our sites in the Hawkesbury, the purpose of this position is to contribute to the development, implementation maintenance and continual improvement of Council’s Work Health and Safety culture, processes and systems and undertake the day-to-day operational activities which underpin this.
About You
You will have demonstrated WHS experience, ideally with experience across multiple industries which will include construction/ blue collar environment. You will be experienced in developing and delivering necessary WHS training packages and have detailed knowledge of WHS legislation, associated Codes of Practice and Australian Standards. You will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact, influence and negotiate across all levels of an organisation.
Essential Criteria
- Certificate IV WHS (minimum) or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrated experience in WHS routing workplace inspections, accident / incident investigation and compliance auditing
- Sound oral and written communication skills
- Experience in inducting staff, contractors, visitors and volunteers into the workplace
- Experience in the writing and review of WHS documentation in relation to both system and contract works
- Ability to prepare risk assessment reports across a range of disciplines
- General knowledge of Workers Compensation Acts and conversant with injury management and return to work processes
- Proficient in use of computers, particularly Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with the development of health and wellbeing programs to support organisational needs
- Class C Drivers Licence
- WHS General Construction Work in NSW
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
