The opportunity
If you have experience in a construction environment or similar in operating plant and providing labour, this is the opportunity for you. Federation Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, footpaths and drainage.
In this role you will:
- Provide labour and plant operating skills to construct, maintain and repair Council civil infrastructure
- Contribute towards the delivery of capital construction projects by undertaking duties such as; site set out & clean up, level control, stormwater, sewer or water main, kerb and gutter, and road pavement installation
- Prepare and lay concrete for assets
- Check and install roadside furnishings
- Carry out traffic control management duties as required
- Accurately complete documentation associated with plant and equipment operation
Selection Criteria
- Hold a current Certificate 3 in Civil Construction
- Hold a current and valid Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
- Hold certificates of competency to operate a variety of plant such as skid steer, excavator, loader etc
- Hold a General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
- Demonstrated relevant experience working in a construction environment or similar
- General knowledge of servicing and maintenance of various plant to ensure they are in a clean and operational condition
- Show initiative in solving problems, improving methods and productivity along with the ability to seek guidance and advice where required
- Demonstrated ability to meet the capability requirements of this position as defined in the capability statement

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $1176.90 per week with progression up to $1299.10 per week dependent upon skills and experience.
