The opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Works Overseer to support in the delivery of construction and maintenance of the essential infrastructure services. This rare and exciting opportunity will play a key role in the overseeing and developing of work plans and projects while ensuring adherence to risk and safety. You will have exceptional organizational and time management skills and be able to effectively communicate with various teams to meet services requirement. In this role you will:
Assist the Delivery Coordinator with construction and maintenance of Council’s infrastructure services including but not limited to the functions outlined in your area of responsibility, in accordance with agreed service levels, including working with other sections as required. Important components of this position include co-ordination of mid and short-term planning, development of works programs, Health and Safety system development and progression, and risk management.
The Works Overseer is responsible for delivering services as per the Area of Responsibility, Functions and Measures outlined.
Criteria
- Hold a certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision, or currently enrolled in and can complete within a 12-month period, or similar qualifications, plus experience in the field.
- Demonstrated project management skills within an Infrastructure Maintenance works environment including financial management, planning and delivery through to evaluation and monitoring.
- Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation and requirement.
- Proven experience in the management of operations budgets.
- Proven ability to schedule and implement work programs, including the management of resources, across a range of activities.
- Previous experience in leading, motivating, managing and empowering a team in order to achieve goals and objectives.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $1582.90 per week with progression up to $1747.30 per week dependent upon skills and experience.
