About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Works Supervisor (Contracts) to join our Operations Department.  Parkes Shire has a diverse range of developments and projects and this role gives the opportunity for you to develop and challenge technical and practical skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.

As the Works Supervisor (Contracts), you will provide effective supervision of Council's Works crews including planning of project and maintenance works programs, the monitoring of staff performance and the tracking of budgets.

Key aspects of the role include the coordination and delivery (in consultation with the Construction Manager) of aspects of Council's RMS Road Maintenance Council Contract (RMCC), coordination of resources and the works crews to achieve project and maintenance programs within budget and established times frames, communication and cooperation with other Council Supervisors and Managers to ensure that Safety, Quality, Environmental and Community requirements are met and liaison with external organisations on matters pertaining to works and services provided by Council including estimating for works to be undertaken.

About You

The successful applicant requires strong communication and teamwork skills. To be successful in this position you will need:

  • Certificate IV Civil Construction OR extensive experience in Civil Construction (preferably in a Local Government setting)
  • Current and maintained NSW Driver's Licence
  • SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card)
  • Certificate III in Civil Construction
  • Experience with supervision and coordination of teams and projects
  • Experience in providing estimates for works, tracking budgets and monitoring staff performance
  • Provide a focus on Business Improvement, Quality, Risk Management and Customer Service
  • Demonstrate ability to contribute positively to the team environment

It will be highly favorable if you possess any of the following:

  • Certificate IV Leadership and Management
  • Certificate IV Project Management

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment. 

The role has been evaluated as being Grade 13 of the Council's salary structure with a commencing salary of $81,541.20 ($41.27 to 47.46 per hour).  The commencing salary to be determined upon the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidates.
