About the opportunity

We are looking for a motivated candidate to join our Workshop as a Trades Assistant on a permanent, full-time basis. You will assist with the maintenance and repair of Council's fleet, plant and equipment including tyre replacement, greasing, washing, and cleaning of these items. 

You will be required to work a 76-hour fortnight on alternate weekly shifts of 5.00am - 2.30pm and 1.30pm - 10.30pm with a rostered day off on alternate Fridays. 

Duties include:

  • General greasing, washing, cleaning duties on vehicles, plant, equipment and components
  • Assist in the tyre bay with tyre replacements and associated tasks
  • Washing and cleaning of workshop floor, grounds, paths, work areas and paving.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • School certificate or equivalent
  • A minimum of 4 years related work experience in a workshop environment
  • Current class HR licence.

Desirable:

  • Current HC licence
  • Current Fork Lift Ticket
  • Experience with heavy plant & vehicle maintenance. 

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,156.81 per week
  • An additional 21.8% in accordance with Council's Workshop Flexibility Agreement
  • 76-hour working fortnight
  • Rotating Shift Hours
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
