Are you passionate about empowering young people? Do you thrive in environments where your impact is genuine and long-lasting? We’re seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Activity Officer to join our Youth Services team in a part-time basis.

About the role

As a Youth Activity Officer, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of young people in our community. You’ll deliver engaging and meaningful programs at the City’s Youth Centres (including school visits), fostering a safe and supportive environment for youth, particularly those facing challenges with alcohol and other drugs (AOD).

Working under the guidance of the Senior Youth Worker, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Build strong, professional relationships with young people, encouraging their participation in a variety of recreational, educational, and personal development activities
  • Support “at-risk” youth by providing information, referrals, and advocacy, ensuring they receive the help they need to thrive
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team to develop and implement programs that address current social issues and promote positive youth engagement
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring our youth services are effective, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the community

Who we’re looking for:

  • A qualification in Youth work, Community Development or similar and experience delivering structured and unstructured youth activities and programs
  • Experience working with young people from diverse and complex backgrounds
  • Working knowledge of social, cultural and financial issues affecting young people
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster genuine, positive relationships
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and weeknight evenings including Fridays and occasional weekends, across different locations
  • Current ‘C’ class driver’s license with reliable vehicle in order to attend various work sites
  • Current WA Working with Children Check and First Aid Certificate
  • National Police Clearance (within six months validity)
  • A passion for working with young people and youth development!
